Governance

Good governance is at the heart of any organisation. All organisations regardless of size need to have systems and processes in place concerned with ensuring their overall direction, supervision and accountability. This includes establishing policies, monitoring and reviewing their implementation including the mechanisms required to balance the powers of their members and/or trustees with their primary duty of enhancing the prosperity and validation of the organisation.

OSCR has stated that in the Third Sector where people raise concerns it is usually caused by a lack of awareness and support or by a failure in decision making rather than any intentional  misconduct and this holds good for public bodies and businesses as well. Regulatory bodies, funders and business partners and supporters alike only want to deal with demonstrably well run bodies. We can help you ensure good governance for your organisation in a number of ways including

  • Reviewing your governing documents and any regulatory environment for your organisation to ensure it is “Fit for Purpose”, acting constitutionally and compliantly
  • Auditing your financial controls and management to enhance your performance and accountability
  • Dealing with disputes and conflicts of interest
  • Providing training on a number of areas including developing and implementing effective policies and procedures, trustee induction, running effective meetings
  • Assisting with your business plans and funding reviews
  • Helping with procurement and contracts
  • Monitoring performance and developing scorecards to help you demonstrate good accountability

Good Governance overarches all of our services. By using our services we hope to get to you the position where you can successfully realise your vision and values,  take advantage of the opportunities open to your organisation under the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act and achieve a successful project outcome.
